Dear Lot’s Wife

Dear Lot’s Wife –
“Move on.”
[[Based on a True Story: Genesis 19]]

Dear Lot’s Wife,

Why did you look back? Often when we hear of people looking back it is to make sure they didn’t leave anything of value behind. What were you regretting of leaving behind? What’s the secret? A lover? A friend? Comfort zone? Security? Curiosity? There has to be a reason. We may never find out since it took your life. Was the matter in question really the fact that you looked back? Turning back is one thing but disobeying God is another thing. It was bad that you turned and it was worse you went against God doing it. Well the lesson is this, doesn’t matter what you left behind. When God instructs you to go, you go. When He said no looking back, don’t you dare look back. Obeying God goes above all. Failure to comply with His command may result in a lifetime of repercussion. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because the sin was too great in the city. So, you looking back had to symbolize regret of something sinful.

Modern day Lot’s wife, maybe you aren’t looking back to Sodom and Gomorrah but you are looking back at your old love life history and you are comparing Lot with other men that you had in your life. You compare him to the boy in second grade who gave you your first kiss. You compare him to your first boyfriend in junior year of high school. You compare him to your college crush. You’re still holding on to the things you did with them and you crave to go back. Leave the past in the past. Lot is your present and your future. If you don’t stop looking back to these other men of the past, you might lose Lot. Save your marriage and family. Save your life. Maybe this is about your relationship with God, you are looking back to the World. You want God but there is a part of the World that is luring you in. The world has nothing good to offer you. Matter fact, God outdoes the world when it comes to you. Move on ahead with God.

Is this “your story?” Can you identify with Lot’s wife? Do you empathize with her? Is her issue your issue? Here is the call to action: Share this post to help other women who need this. Please, use the hashtags #MyStoryIsInTheBible #IAmLotsWife #OpenLettersSeries
