“What would you do if you weren’t afraid”- Sheryl Sandberg
A myriad of people have been crippled by their kryptonite, that ultimate weakness that is miniaturizing their life: FEAR. We aren’t born with it yet it slowly creeps up in our lives. Fear is like untreated hypertension. The warning signs are disguised and long before you know it, you’ve arrived to your end.
Our mind has a clever way of getting us to not shoot for the stars. For some, it doesn’t seem abnormal or irrational that they are afraid of clowns. Fear of cats, of flying, of heights and so many more have debilitated us. Fear is no respecter of person. It disregards our titles and all our achievements hanging on the wall. It underestimates our strength. It overlooks our social class. It takes no notice of what we can do because it is there to remind us of what we cannot do. It compels us to avoid doing certain things even though people are reassuring us that we can. It cripples us from walking into our calling. It blurs our vision. It even hinders us from praying by reminding us that our request is way too big to be answered.
We can’t live our lives in fear nor can we let it overcome us. As a result we must:
- Identify it! – You can’t fight what you don’t know
- Confront it! – You have to confront what is challenging you
- Overcome it! – Put on your cape and fight back
Identify what is causing you to be so unhappy, unfulfilled. What is holding your hand from writing your book? What is preventing you from starting this business? What is stopping you from getting on a plane? What is stopping you from getting in the gym. Identifying it is the first step to overcoming it.
Confronting what is challenging you is not a physical thing. It is both a spiritual and a mental thing. We have to know the word of God to counteract what is attacking our mind. What God said you can do is not too small nor too big for you to carry out. For every fearful thing that comes at us there is a scripture to fight it back. Don’t believe me? Try it.
One cannot even begin to fathom how fear has destroyed lives. Fear HAS to be destroyed. We cannot allow it to deactivate our God-Given-Goals any longer. Your dreams, adventures and calling need to be achieved.
When fear comes at you like a roar lion, don’t run away. Stand your ground and roar back. Go and conquer your dreams.

Ciao!
That’s one of my favorite quotes/questions from Sheryl and it’s one that we each should ask ourselves every so often if we’re going to truly achieve greatness.

As I was doing a study on Anxiety yesterday, I learned that it breeds doubt and is rooted in FEAR! Fear will always cancel out faith and therefore make our prayers and eventually our spiritual walk ineffective. Fear strangles our faith, but praise be to God for spiritual tools such as the Bible and Holy Spirit to war against this evil spirit!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
