A few years back, I introduced a blog series called Stronger With Her. Among the inspiring women I highlighted was Tahisha Solages, a woman I’m honored to call a dear friend.
She is no stranger to the public. She was a chef on The Chew, where her vibrant personality was just as memorable as her cooking. She was the show’s little “Scotch bonnet pepper,” spicy, bold, and full of flavor. Through the show, she opened the doors of Creole cuisine to American audiences and viewers around the world. She brought the heart of our culture into people’s homes, showcasing our flavors, traditions, and the famous epis that gives so many Haitian dishes their signature taste.
As Haitians, we were proud. Proud to see our culture represented on American television. Proud to see epis recognized. Proud of Tahisha. On July 17, 2026, she gave us another reason to celebrate. On her birthday, she released her debut single, “Ou Son Papa Tout Bon Vre,” which translates to “You Are Truly a Good Father.” It is a beautiful tribute to God’s faithfulness in the midst of pain, trials, and tears.
Tahisha and her husband, Vlajimmy, were married for many years and endured multiple miscarriages and stillbirths. Although their marriage was blessed, healthy, and fruitful with love and joy, there were more… fruits missing. They experienced countless blessings, yet they carried an unspoken emptiness. They joyfully celebrated the children of family and friends, attended baby showers, and poured their love into their roles as godparents. Still, parenthood remained an unanswered longing.
She has shared that there was a season when she was deeply angry with God, yet her faith in Him remained unshaken. God saw the pain she could not put into words. He wiped away the tears no one else could fully see. In His timing, He “opened the womb van” and blessed them with three beautiful children. Josiah, their firstborn, whose sweet voice is featured at the end of the song, along with Micaiah and Elianna.
The heart of this song is a reminder that even in our hardest seasons, God gives us the strength and peace to overcome pain, doubt, disappointment, and unanswered prayers. One of my favorite lines from the song is: “Malgre dlo ka koule nan je, ou vire l an jwa, fòk mwen temwaye.” “Even though tears may flow from my eyes, You turn them into joy, and I must share my testimony.”
Are you waiting on God for something? Anything?
While you wait, let this song become your anthem. Let it remind you that God’s goodness is not measured by how quickly He answers our prayers, but by His faithfulness to walk with us through every season.
We were proud of Tahisha then, and we are even prouder now. Congratulations, my dear friend, for staying true to your Haitian roots and for sharing this beautiful testimony with the world. Your story reminds us that God is still faithful, even in the waiting.
