Dear Single Mother,
You are totally underpaid. You get one salary to be a mom, a dad, the cleaning lady, a tutor, the laundry lady, a therapist, a chef, the annoying lady, the alarm clock, the breadwinner, the unfair lady, a mediator, an inspector gadget. You do it all for your children and at times you forget about yourself – overworked and totally over-judged. They say that you, as a single mother is a casualty, causing crime rates to increase, cause of high school drop-out, cause of poverty in some neighborhoods, cause of incarceration rates. People are always going to find what you did wrong and what you could have done right. Bla, bla, bla and more bla. As though they are perfect. Oh well! Motherhood is not for the weak, you’ve proven to be strong. I congratulate you. You are winning many accolades. You’ve done well. You don’t have to worry about if you are doing enough. You’ve done more than enough. You don’t need a cape for the world to see you are a supermom – it is evident.
Thanks,
