Dear Samaritan Woman,

I’ve read your story. Now, I’ve discovered that you were not just a simple woman sleeping around. You were smart. You had a tremendous amount of knowledge. You knew there has been a rift between the Jews and Samaritans. You knew your forefather; Jacob gave the Well to the Jews. On top of that you knew the men you had and have are not you husbands. You admitted it to Jesus. You’ve diagnosed yourself. This is big, very big. So, why did you remain with them? Why did you do it? You did it six times. Was it the thrill of the affair, steamy sex; was it having a man with no wifey duties to these men? Was it because you didn’t want to be lonely? Was it because you wanted something to give you protection? What was it?

You are one of the most infamous women in the bible. You are the home-wrecker. You are the husband snatcher. Everyone is looking at you, sideway glances, finger pointing. You’ve become the topic of every behind closed doors conversations. Wives are afraid to leave their husbands in your presence unattended. This whole experience is inescapable.

My dear reader,
Can you related to the Samaritan Woman? You know, have you ever been with someone and you knew that they weren’t the one for you but you remained with them anyway? Have you ever had an affair with a married man? You loved him. You wanted to have his children. You even wanted him to leave his wife for you. But, deep down in your heart you knew that he would never be yours because he loves his wife? Maybe the story of the Samaritan woman is too outdated. We have the story of Mary Jane and Andre from the TV show Being Mary Jane. Andre (Omari Hardwick) married to Avery (Robinne Lee) but started having an affair with Mary Jane (Gabrielle Union). At first, she was not happy to find out that he is married. Then, she started accepting it. But in the back of her mind, she knew he wasn’t for her. There are so many women at the Well, like you, wanting water and a man but really need a savior to save them.

Having something to call your own feels good. Having your own home, your own car and especially your own husband. Have a woman’s husband been lost? And you found him in your bed, in your arms? You really want to keep him because the companionship is good and the sex is great? I charge you to return him to his owner. His wife needs him home. His children needs their father. He doesn’t belong to you my dear friend. Your very own husband will find you in due time. Wait on him. Let him find you. Don’t good searching for him. Be in the right place to be found, in your own lane. Be Strong and wait.
