Dear Bilhah & Zilpah
“Your sacrifice is notable.”
[[Based on True Story: Book of Genesis 30]]
Dear Bilhah and Zilpah,
Bilhah handmaiden to Rachel and mother of Dan, Naphtali.
Zilpah handmaiden to Leah and mother of Gad and Asher.
You were treated like a slave. You were commanded to sleep with someone’s husband to bare them children. Sex, with no emotion, no intimacy. Slavery at its worst. You’ve probably amassed a flood of resentment and agony. This is a true tale of the Handsmaid Tale. A man and a woman is going to build a family through you and yet you can have no attached to this family that you have created. That’s painful. Giving birth to your first child and yet you can’t name the child. You can kiss the child. You can’t nurture the child. This may have been an emotional dagger for you.
I truly admire your strength.
Modern day Bilhah & Zilpah, you are the surrogate mother’s of our time. By virtue of your self-sacrifice many people with fertility problems, hysterectomy, health risk or other related problems have experienced hope again. We laud your courage and willingness to help families smile again. I also cant forget you foster and adoption mothers. You truly admired for your love. I thank you!
Strongly together & Inspired by,
Friend
