“Your past doesn’t define you.”
[[Based on a True Story: Book of Hosea]]
You have a secret… a secret that ironically everyone knows about. You are probably wondering if you are the only one with this little secret. You are not and those who do rarely admit as much. There are many Gomers out there. Ashamed. Bound. Miserable. Dysfunctional. You’ve had a cumbersome life. You did some things you aren’t proud of. You feel unworthy to be loved. So, to compensate you led a promiscuous life in quest for love. Sleeping with men, you don’t even know.
The exposure of your past has made you go into hiding. People have called you all types of names. They talked about you. They’ve judged you. They’ve looked down at you. Even so, I don’t judge you. I don’t look down at you. In your pain, in your loneliness, in your shame, in your brokenness you managed to hold on to life. In criticism, in judgment and in battles you find the bravery to stand. You live beyond the… Do you know how many in your shoes have taken the suicide alternative to shield from these negative comments? For that I say, you are a strong woman, stronger than most.
My dear Modern day Gomer, your past doesn’t define you. Your past doesn’t determine who you are. Jesus died on the cross for you. The Father is willing to forgive you. The woman at the well was restored through an encounter with the savior. Gomer, there is no condemnation if you are in Christ Jesus. Would you accept Him? Invite Him to come into your life. You don’t have to run to sex to find love anymore. God loves you. His Son is proof of His love for you. You don’t have to give your body to a man anymore to hear, “You’re beautiful.” Gomer, stand up and hold your head up. Wake up! There is a beautiful life ahead of you.
