Kabrea Thomas – Stronger with Her

I attended an event last year called Women who Inspire Women. Kabrea was one of the vendors there. She is the Founder of Fashionably Yours and Signature Scents by Hand. She is a fashion and fragrance expert. She helps professionals learn how to stand out and feel confident in what they wear and how they smell. As I approached her table, a sign that reads “handmade and vegan friendly” catches my eye. I was fascinated by this discovery. Can perfume really be vegan? Sure can. I admire her uniqueness and adventurousness. Many people love to wear perfume but few actually endeavor to create it. On days when I wear her perfume, two reflections are being repeated in my mind. One, I smell deliciously good. Two, I know the chemist behind this essence.  

Here goes my virtual questionnaire with Kabrea:

1. What is one thing you would you like the audience to know about you?
   I am perfume addict, hence why I have a fragrance business!
2. How do you deal with failures, hardships, judgmental and pessimistic people?

When it comes to overcoming my failures and hardships I try my best to learn from the situation, rather than seeing it as a loss. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and each obstacle I fail at is just preparing me along the way. When it comes to judgmental and pessimistic people I distance myself as much as possible. Sometimes it can be a challenge because they’re everywhere, – on the internet, sometimes they’re family. But all in all, I think it’s about accepting the fact that there will be people who will think differently than me.

3. What is the one thing that you would say contributed most to your success?

I would say what helped me a lot is my small, but strong support team. They’ve all been there for me whether I asked for help or not. And I think that’s what’s important. There are times when I’m not as strong, and my support team comes in and reminds me of my WHY. Why am I doing all of this? They remind me of why I decided to follow this journey.

4. What advice would you offer women wanting to be like you and make a difference?

The advice I would want to give is to remember that success doesn’t happen overnight, it’s the consistent things you do overnight that build your legacy. I think in this day and age we tend to get sidetracked by what someone else is doing, and we wonder why success didn’t come to us. And then we tend to have self-doubt, fear and feel less motivated. But everyone has a different story and sometimes our chapters end and start differently. When this happens just remember your WHY (why you do what you do) and let that guide you.

As young as her business is, I believe that she has already begun making footprints in this world. I’m stronger with her. Her story teaches me to be bold and brave when throttling on a peculiar road. It is ok to set the flow.
