So often, when things are going well in our lives, we tend to relax in our walk with God. We rest not just physically, but spiritually. We ease up on prayer. We slow down on building christian character, and godly morals. But the moment chaos enters, we suit up like soldiers. We are suddenly ready to pray, to fast, to fight, and to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
This passage, Luke 4:13 reminds us that as christians, there is no spiritual downtime. The enemy does not take days off. Every single day, Satan is waiting for moments when we are relaxed, distracted, or spiritually idle, looking for an opportunity to attack.
When he comes, will he find you well equipped for battle, strong enough to resist his persistent and deviant offers? Or will he find you weak, desperate, and unwilling to resist the things of this world? There are three well known sayings. I do not know which one will stir an urgent desire in you to never become an idle christian who takes spiritual breaks, but I pray that at least one of them opens your eyes.
Do not let them catch you slacking.
Stay ready so you do not have to get ready.
An idle believer is an easy target.
With love, always!
