Dear Jochebed

Dear Jochebed
“Adopt over abort – there is Greatness is in your womb.”
[[Based on True Story: Exodus 2]]

Dear Jochebed,

It must have been hard for you to carry this child for 9 months, give birth to him, nurture, raise him then have to give him away to another woman. Not given to another woman as a husband but as her son. Not because you wanted to but because of the circumstances. You had to give Moses away to Pharaoh’s daughter. She then became his mother. I’m sure this must has been one of the hardest thing for you to do. I marvel at your selfless sacrifice to save the life of your child, even if it meant destroying yours as a mother.

My modern day Jochebed, you are pregnant but you can’t keep the child because it is a result of failed birth control. Maybe you are only 15 and it will interfere with your schooling. Perhaps it is “your body – your choice.” Perhaps this pregnancy was result of a rape incident. Perhaps you can’t afford a child right now. Perhaps you don’t want the baby to come in change the dynamics of your life. Perhaps you are homeless with no place to nurture the child. Perhaps the father-to-be said “no way, this isn’t their child…. he don’t want it” and you fear a single motherhood.  – Fear of raising the child in an abusive family.  Fear of judgement. Honestly your reasons can be endless. I may not be able to convince you to keep the child. I hope you can consider giving the child for adoption. There is a family out there who can’t have children. Would you consider them? There is greatness in your womb. This greatness is a blessing. Please, don’t abort this blessing. Give your blessing to someone in need! Adopt over abort.

Strongly together & Inspired by,
Friend
